If you even just drop your bike that's considered an accident too...
and it can all be avoided if you watch what you're doing.
Most motorcycle accidents, from falling over in your driveway to a major traffic accident can be avoided. Most are the fault of the motorcycle operator and are due to inexperience, speeding, alcohol or drug use or simply not paying attention. A rider with 47 years experience of riding accident free like myself is no trick. An experienced rider can operate a 90 cc Vespa or a 350 H.P. Boss Hoss safely.
The rules to follow are simple:
Know your motorcycle and do a mechanical check before riding
NEVER exceed the speed limit
Leave 1 second for every 10 m.p.h. between you and the vehicle in front of you
NEVER ride a bike with alcohol or drugs (legal or illegal) in your system
Keep your eyes moving AND WATCHING at ALL times
Use all your senses and LISTEN and SMELL for dangers at all times
DON'T play a radio, you're not in your damned car or truck
NEVER ride when you're tired
Most accidents involve riders under 30 on crotch rockets that they know little about and don't follow the rules and riders over 40 that are RUB's and ride a bike heavier than they can safely handle.
Most of these riders with little experience either have no motorcycle endorsement or they took their road test on a much smaller and less powerful motorcycle than they are currently riding.
That's all there is to it.
